ICE HOCKEY AUSTRALIA ANNOUNCES NEW ATHLETIC PERFORMANCE MANAGER

Ice Hockey Australia (IHA) is pleased to announce the appointment of Jerome Villegas as Athletic Performance Manager, who will assist in providing physical performance planning support and delivery across IHA.
Jerome is a highly experienced sports performance professional with more than 30 years of experience across coaching, teaching and developing amateur and elite athletes. Through his experience in elite sport, Jerome brings to the role his skills in optimising physical performance, preventing and managing injuries, fostering player welfare, and maximizing the potential of young talent.
In addition to his coaching experience, Jerome has spent 10 years as a fitness and sports teacher, which has allowed him to remain at the forefront of current best practice and scientific research to the benefit of his students, players and fellow coaches in the industry.
Key priorities in the role:
Jerome will be working closely with Matti Luoma, IHA’s National High-Performance Program Director and other key stakeholders to deliver the following outcomes:
- Provide physical performance planning, support, and delivery across IHA’s five National teams and programs
- Plan and support the delivery of strength and conditioning, physiology, rehabilitation, and recovery programs to IHA national programs
- Positively contribute to IHA’s high-performance culture and player wellbeing
Jerome holds a Bachelor of Applied Science (Human Movement), Graduate Diploma of Sports Management, Advanced Diploma of Adult Learning and Development, Professional Coach Accreditation Scheme, ARU Rugby Coach level 2, ASCA Level 2, AWF Sports Power Coach Level 3.
