We Want You to Referee! Welcome to the Ice Hockey Australia Officiating website. We would encourage anyone who is interested in becoming an on-ice official to find out more by reading the information provided, and then contacting their State Referee In Chief. We have also made available a number of information resources for our referees including the latest rule updates, links to other officiating websites, and the latest refereeing news as it comes to hand. THE ART OF OFFICIATINGTo become a competent, respected official at any level requires patience, discipline, dedication, courage and hard work. It's not usually something that comes naturally, nor can the skills be taught or mastered overnight; yet the demands for perfection are immediate. Hockey is a fast paced, emotionally charged, exciting sport and officials are an integral part along with players, coaches and specatators. Hockey officiating is an apprenticeship process and one of the main tools is learning through actual game experience. |
